ABOUT PETE BATEMAN
For 25 years Pete has been working with found and discarded materials - anything from old shoes, suitcases and bicycles to caravans and fairground rides. Beginning as an illustrator for editorial and design clients, Pete progressed to large scale works, designing and producing artworks and installations for theatre, film and festivals.
Creating sculptures that travel, vehicles to inhabit and worlds to be immersed in, Pete turns the familiar and everyday into the peculiar and bizarre. Pete enjoys collaborating with writers, performers and filmakers to bring his worlds to life and explore their hidden narratives. Working from a yard in central France, Pete has plenty of space to build and create, while regularly visiting the UK for work.
